Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
